Emotional Kinetics

Emotion in motion

Nada Al-Sultan Al-Ghory

This kinetic sculpture, titled "Emotion in Motion," embodies the conflicting emotions of frustration and hope. The delicate balance of geometric shapes, suspended by wire, suggests a sense of tension and longing. The interplay of jagged and curved forms in varying shades of blue symbolizes the emotional struggle between despondency and optimism, creating a visual representation of resilience in the face of adversity. The composition reflects the duality of emotions as they coexist and interact.

Kardelen Cici

Discover the art of kinetic sculpture in our studio, inspired by Alexander Calder's dynamic designs. This studio guides students to create their own kinetic sculptures, each telling a unique story through interconnected elements.

Starting with an A3 vertical poster using gestalt principles, students will transition these concepts into three-dimensional forms, focusing on balance and motion. Quick mock-ups with foamboard and metal wire will help explore balance points and aesthetic appeal.

The final phase involves drafting 2D CAD drawings for laser cutting, using plexiglass and metal wire. The result is an abstract kinetic sculpture that expresses emotional depth.
