Visiting international lawyer Lara Elborno provided an in-depth workshop on elements of law such as Torts and Criminal Law proceedings in the past at Karam House, building the confidence of the students through critical thinking and analysis skills.

This year, Lara will be teaching students to debate in the workshop “Debate Club.” Students will understand how to make and articulate logical arguments in front of an audience and develop their skills of persuasion as well as their confidence speaking publicly for use in all aspects of everyday life. The students will:

• Develop sound arguments
• Learn to recognize and rebut logical fallacies
• Learn to speak in front of an audience and be encouraged to think on their feet)
• Take initiative and demonstrate leadership
• Use fact based research to support arguments
• Learn the manners of public speaking (passionate speaking tailored to the specific audience, the use of the appropriate tone, pitch, speed, the value of preparation, the use of good body language such as eye contact, posture, etc.
