“Studying history is important because it allows us to understand our past, which in turn allows us to understand our present.... Studying history can provide us with insight into our cultures of origin as well as cultures with which we might be less familiar, thereby increasing cross-cultural awareness and understanding.”

In this studio, students shall take a story of a historical Arab figure whose story is unknown to them or not mentioned in their school history books. They shall learn about them and create a storyboard that interprets and expands their understanding of these figures and their stories through a ‘designed stop motion’.

Students shall then learn the stop motion animation technique, which is widely used in filmmaking. They will lightly manipulate objects in between photographed frames to create a sequence of frames. These objects will appear to be moving independently when viewed as an uninterrupted movie. 

This method of filmmaking will be coupled with interactive elements that illustrate the complex narrative of the chosen individual’s life.

في هذا الأستديو، سيقوم الطلاب بالتقاط قصة أحد الشخصيات من التاريخ العربي من الذين لم يسمعوا بهم قبلاً أو لم يتم التطرق لهم في كتب التاريخ في مدارسهم. سيقوم الطلاب بالتعلم عن تلك الشخصيات ومن ثم تصميم قصة مصورة تعكس وتوسع فهمهم لهذه القصص والشخصيات من خلال تقنية ايقاف الحركة (stop motion).

بعد ذلك، سيقوم الطلاب باستخدام تقنيّة ايقاف الحركة ذات الاستخدام الشّائع في صناعة الأفلام وذلك عن طريق التلاعب بالمجسمات بزيادات بسيطة في حجم كل إطار للصور بحيث تظهر وتعرض حركات مستقلة أو من خلال تغيير سلسلة الإطارات التي يتم عرضها، سيتم اقتران طريقة صناعة الأفلام هذه مع عناصر متفاعلة تعكس السرد المركب لحياة كل من هذه الشخصيات.
