our rover will be used to collect Iron. Iron can be used to make steel, so getting it on the moon is going to be beneficial to humans, so a rover will help. The rover will need, tough rubber wheels to counteract the rough and rocky terrain and a drill to mine the iron. It will also need a storage container to hold the iron that it collects.
Our rover is intended for the mining of silicon dioxide (SiO2) on the surface of the Moon. The main challenge our rover needs to overcome is the lunar dust stirred by the movement, drilling, and collection of the rover. Our rover will use magnets to protect delicate machinery from the abrasive lunar dust. The rover will consist of a box containing the motors and batteries. Four legs, attached to 4 pivoting wheels, will be situated on the sides of the rovers. This main body will be composed of wood. The "brain" will contain a camera and be elevated on a rotating and telescoping pylon extending from the body.
Next Steps:
1: Make the body more sturdy.
2: Add, build, and code the drill.
3: Make all of our wires more organized.
4: Add finishing touches like a light or designs on the side.
Our rover, acheron, is being made to retrieve helium-3 from the moon. It shall do this by scooping up lithospheric rock from the moon's surface using an excavator. It will then put it in a compartment for storage, this will have a door which will go up and down to stop the collected material from falling out. It will then be processed and separated out at a later point by heating the material to 600-700 degrees C
Its named after a river in hades

prototypes
what we will do next
we will first model it in rhino so we can cut out the sides in wood
secondly we will assemble it and put the Arduino in
finally we will test that it works and if doesn't then we will improve it
