SpaceX CRS-19 mission for the Dragon Spacecraft is currently undergoing test launches with NASA for a future human-operated missions into space. The mission that Dragon is currently gathering information for a Better Picture of Earth’s Surface and investigations that examine the behavior of flames as they spread in differently shaped confined spaces in microgravity.

“For almost 20 years, humans have lived and worked continuously aboard the International Space Station, advancing scientific knowledge and demonstrating new technologies, making research breakthroughs not possible on Earth that will enable long-duration human and robotic exploration into deep space. As a global endeavor, more than 230 people from 18 countries have visited the unique microgravity laboratory that has hosted more than 2,500 research investigations from researchers in 106 countries.”

In this studio, students will create furniture pieces on the Dragon Spacecraft to prepare for the human-operated launch and cooperate with the types of research initiatives that each mission aims to explore. Once Dragon arrives back on earth the mobile furniture will then repurposed into everyday life. How can you create functional furniture for exploration and comfort while keeping in mind the space constraints?

تخضع حاليا بعثة "سبيس إكس سي إس-١٩" لمركبة الفضاء "دراغون" لإطلاق إختبارات مع "ناسا" للقيام بمهمات في الفضاء تحت إشراف الإنسان في المستقبل. المهمة التي يقوم بها التنين حاليا هي جمع المعلومات من أجل صورة أفضل لسطح الأرض والتحقيقات التي تفحص سلوك اللهب وهي تنتشر في أماكن محدودة بأشكال مختلفة في الجاذبية الصغرى."

على مدى ٢٠ عاما تقريبا، عاش البشر وعملوا بشكل مستمر على متن محطة الفضاء الدولية، وتقدموا بالمعرفة العلمية، وأظهروا التكنولوجيات الجديدة، الأمر الذي يجعل الاكتشافات البحثية غير ممكنة على وجه الأرض والتي من شأنها أن تمكن الاستكشاف البشري والروبوت لفترة طويلة في الفضاء العميق. 

وكمسعى عالمي، زار أكثر من ٢٣٠ شخصا من ١٨ دولة مختبر الجاذبية الصغرى الفريد الذي إستضاف أكثر من ٢٥٠٠ بحث من الباحثين في ١٠٦ بلدان.

في هذا الاستوديو، سيقوم الطلاب بخلق قطع أثاث على متن المركبة الفضائية "دراغون" للاستعداد لعملية الإطلاق التي يقوم بها الإنسان، ويتعاونون مع أنواع المبادرات البحثية التي تهدف كل بعثة إلى إستكشافها. وبمجرد وصول التنين إلى الأرض، سيعاد إستعمال الأثاث المتنقل إلى الحياة اليومية. كيف يمكنك صنع أثاث فعال للاستكشاف و الراحة مع مراعاة قيود الفضاء ؟
