We walk by portals of all types, shapes, forms, and sizes on a daily bases: windows and doors, arches and passageways, digital and physical, open and closed. Each of these entry points has a definitive and imposing experience, often containing an untold narrative, a historical memory, or an active story. Portals have the ability to create complex and profound moments in the experience of physical space.

In this studio, students will create interactive portals based on their own narratives. They will begin by analyzing different existing portals while documenting a narrative of personal significance. They will be encouraged to deliberate on their thoughts, dreams, fears, and feelings by constructing a portal--open or close--to their inner world.
