Modern life is occupies with successive events that are as often discursive as they are related to one another. The same applies to larger institutions and communities, where contemporary representation and documentation methods have created utter fatigue. Events are photographed, filmed, sometimes written, published, or distributed. Social media and modern technology play a role in the speed of documentation and dissemination of events, but they are rarely slowed down and analyzed.

This studio is an opportunity for students to document a sequence of events and developments through kinetic chains. They will use movement and actions and reactions to allow objects to create a physical documentation of said events. The projects will leverage the laws of physics to create a physical embodiment of otherwise fleeting memories and activities.
