You’ve probably heard of some of NASA’s robots that have been sent to space like the Mars rovers Curiosity, Spirit, and Opportunity. Those are just a few of the more famous robots. NASA engineers are continuously working on new robots for different missions. Historically we have sent robots to explore space as it is a much easier and safer way to investigate and inform people on earth about their destinations. There have been major benefits to robots taking the place of human space explorers!

“Sending robots to space is also much cheaper than sending a human. Robots don’t need to eat or sleep or go to the bathroom. They can survive in space for many years and can be left out there—no need for a return trip! Plus, robots can do lots of things that humans can’t. Some can withstand harsh conditions, like extreme temperatures or high levels of radiation. Robots can also be built to do things that would be too risky or impossible for astronauts. Historically, robots have been sent to space to conduct missions that otherwise would put humans in potential harm.”

In this studio, you will research new planets that we have yet to explore and create a robot that will be fit for that mission: collecting research, expanding our knowledge outside Earth, discovering new territories, and any other need you can imagine.
