In this studio, we will deeply investigate the city to see things that we don’t pay attention to until it becomes a regular visual for us and reconnects it with our imaginations to form the city itself.

We will dive into the concept of urbanity through the design of devices that allow the city to be navigated in new ways. Our projects will seek to unveil hidden worlds and experiences within the city that are typically ignored or unseen by urban dwellers.

Students will learn mechanical design and fabrication techniques to develop urban interventions that transforms users' experiential perspective. They will design a device or wearable that allows the user (or users) to explore the city from a new perspective that unveils unseen aspects of the city.

Questions to Consider:

• What issue or aspect of the city is being unveiled?
• What are the existing traces of this issue in the city? How can your device enhance/alter/exaggerate these traces or add new traces to the urban environment?

ما لا نراه غالباً لا نتكلم عنه، الأشياء القريبة إلينا من الممكن أن تكون غير مرئية بالنسبة لنا لاعتيادنا عليها. في هذا الاستوديو سنتجول بحواسنا العميقة داخل المدينة لرؤية ما كان يخفى علينا أو تعودنا عليه حتى أصبح جزء من ذاكرتنا البصرية وسوف نربطه بمخيلتنا لإسقاطها على الواقع وتشكيل المدينة نفسها.سوف نتعمق في مفهوم التحضر من خلال تصميم الأجهزة التي تتيح رؤية المدينة بطرق جديدة. حيث تسعى مشاريعنا إلى كشف النقاب عن عوالم خفية وتجارب داخل المدينة يتم تجاهلها أو عدم رؤيتها عادةً من قبل سكان المدن.

سوف يتعلم الطلاب تقنيات التصميم والتصنيع الميكانيكية لتطوير التدخلات الحضرية التي ستحول منظور المستخدمين التجريبي. حيث سيقومون بتصميم جهاز يتيح للمستخدم استكشاف المدينة من منظور جديد يكشف النقاب عن الجوانب غير المرئية للمدينة.

• ما القضية أو جانب من جوانب المدينة التي يتم كشف النقاب عنها؟
• ما هي الآثار الحالية لهذه القضية في المدينة؟ كيف يمكن لجهازك تحسين / تغيير / المبالغة في هذه الآثار أو إضافة آثار جديدة إلى البيئة الحضرية؟
