In the field of Biologically Inspired Engineering, engineers, scientists, and designers take inspiration from natural processes to expand existing technologies and invent new fields. Researchers and practitioners work to uncover the biological design behind naturally occurring phenomena to solve complex human and environmental problems facing our world today.  Groundbreaking applications in this field have spanned the nanoscale, in medicine and materials science, up to the macroscale in robotics, which will be the focus of this studio.

Threats to endangered animals from humans and non-native species, extreme weather, and pollution are jeopardizing the natural environment. Scientists, lay-people, and politicians are working to alter this change through cultural shifts, technology, and new ways of thinking about energy and environmental remediation. But what can you do? In this studio, students will create eco-droids that help nature fight back and protect threatened elements. This studio will call into question our fundamental understanding of what robots are, and how they interact with the ecosystem.

Students will study our most pressing ecological issues and support nature in its response to human encroachment. Students will develop a device that symbiotically assists a living organism to adapt to recent environmental pressure through the lens of evolutionary processes. The eco-bots will mechanically respond to environmental constraints in order to aid in species-specific problems.

ولكن ماذا يمكنك أن نفعل؟ في هذا الاستوديو ، سيقوم الطلاب بإنشاء الآلات البيئية التي تساعد الطبيعة في محاربة وحماية العناصر المهددة.

 سيثير هذا الاستوديو التشكيك في فهمنا الأساسي لماهية الروبوتات وكيف تتفاعل مع النظام البيئي، كما سيقوم الطلاب بدراسة أكثر للقضايا البيئية إلحاحًا لدينا ودعم الطبيعة في استجابتها للزحف البشري.

سيقوم الطلاب بتطوير جهاز يساعد  الكائن الحي على التكيف مع الضغوط البيئية الحديثة من خلال  العمليات التطورية ،ستستجيب الروبوتات الميكانيكية للقيود البيئية من أجل المساعدة في المشكلات الخاصة بهذه الأنواع.
