Floating Damascene
Sam Marsheh
Project Description
The pavilion includes three soccer/multi-use fields, six stands, a basketball court, a large park for children, pathways, and a damascene style fountain under a roof. It is kept above the water and meets the city by the sidewalk. It is essentially an extension of the land a city has. Pipes run though the support beams, which supply water from the river to be filtered and later used for the fountain, bathrooms, and drinking water.
Project Inspiration
I wanted to make a recreational area for a packed city, but I also wanted to include some cultural elements. So, I took influences from DUMBO in Brooklyn, New York and added a traditional damascene style as the pavilion's centerpiece.
