The Octagonal Hub
Muhammed Sajih
Project Description:
The building is designed in an octagonal shape and serves as a calm and comfortable workspace. The design emphasizes openness while maintaining privacy in the interior spaces.
At the center of the pavilion, a water fountain is placed for relaxation and natural cooling, creating a soothing environment that enhances focus and tranquility. The layout includes four rooms arranged around the fountain, promoting spatial balance and harmony.
Mashrabiya screens are used to allow natural light to enter softly without compromising privacy, while also adding an elegant Eastern aesthetic.
Materials used: Natural stone, Carved wood, Zellige, Wrought iron, Stained glass
Project Inspiration:
My project is inspired by traditional Damascus courtyard houses and mashrabiya.
The courtyard provides an open space with privacy, featuring a central water fountain for cooling and relaxation.
The mashrabiya allows natural light in while helping with daytime heating.
