WHAT WE ARE MAKING
WHY WE ARE MAKING IT
Transforming on 2D composition to 3D Sculpture
Understanding of your composition how it can balanced and create a motion
ACTIVITY MATERIALS
Foam Board
Metal Wire
Wire Cutter
Long Noise Plier
Sketchbook
Begin by selecting the most compelling or descriptive sketches from your emotive element poster.
You design already a 2D composition. Consider if these element would 3D sculpture how it would be look.
Sketch it.
Don't forget, we will connect the elements with wire.
01 START WITH A SKETCH
15-20 Min
Measurement is the significant part of the creating process for making real
Give approximate measurements by imagining the measurements and checking them with a ruler. How would it be if it were bigger or smaller? Does it disrupt the rules and element composition order you have chosen?
Please do not forget to write the dimensions in the sketch drawing!
02 APPROX. MEASUREMENT
15-20 Min
Draw the elements of your composition one by one on the foamboard in 1/1 size and cut them out.
03 CUTTING THE ELEMENTS
15-20 Min
04 MAKE THE WIRE FRAME WORK
1. Use the wire cutter to snip off the metal wire
2. Bend the wire to a good length for the main arm
3.Create a loop in the center of wire. You can bend the wire by hand or use needle nose pliers.
04 CREATE THE LOOPS
Create loops at each end of the main arm to hold smaller arms
Trim the ends of the loop with the wire cutter if necessary.
05 CREATE THE LOOPS
You may fall this wire like the spine of your statue. You can bend your own loops and wire accordingly, depending on how you want it to stay balanced.
05 ASSEMBLED THE ELEMENTS & GET BALANCED
