01 | Bright Blue Lights

Bio-luminescence is a unique phenomenon found in many species of marine life, particularly in the endangered twilight zone of the sea. This depth of the ocean is characterized by limited light penetration, making bio-luminescence a crucial adaptation for survival in these creatures. The protection of these unique and delicate species is a goal of the United Nations, recognizing the importance of conserving the diversity of marine life and preserving the delicate ecosystems of the twilight zone.

In this studio, we will shine a light on the wonder of the sea and how to protect these bio-luminescent sea creatures and their habitats to ensure their survival for future generations to admire and appreciate. We will also raise awareness and encourage people to defend this delicate ecosystem.

Through experimentation with light, materials, and technology and through using research, design skills, rapid prototyping, and technical implementation, students will bring the magic of the sea to life by creating illuminated products that are interactive and reminiscent of the sea creatures they aim to protect. By the end of the project, these products will be used in an awareness campaign to raise consciousness about the need to protect sea life, leading students to bring the beauty and wonder of the sea to the forefront and inspire people to take action in its defense.
